Project teams

Why project-level access is tighter than organisation membership.

Being a member of your organisation doesn't automatically give someone access to every project's kanban board. Each project has its own team — a subset of your organisation's members — and only people on that team (plus Owners and Admins, who always have access) can see or track time on that project's board.

Why it works this way

This keeps sensitive or client-restricted projects visible only to the people actually working on them, without needing a separate organisation per client.

Managing the team

Owners and Admins add or remove people from a project's team on the project's settings page. Anyone assigned as a work-item assignee must be on the team — you can't assign someone who doesn't have access.

  • Kanban Board — what project-team access unlocks.
  • Roles explained — organisation-wide roles, a separate axis from project-team membership.
