Importing tracked time
Turning logged hours into invoice line items, safely.
Use Import tracked time (from the invoice form, or Bill this time from Timesheets) to pull uninvoiced hours onto a draft invoice.
What makes this safe
- You can't bill the same hours twice. Once time is on a draft or sent invoice, it's reserved — the import list won't offer it again, and the control disables or warns rather than silently appending a duplicate line.
- Changing the client resets stale line items. An invoice can never end up carrying a previous client's hours after you switch clients mid-draft.
- Your project's billing method is respected exactly. Hourly projects import at the project's rate; flat-fee projects import at the fixed fee; a non-billing or zero-rate project is never invoiced at a made-up rate.
- You get an itemised preview first. Every entry (date, description, hours) is listed before import, and you can exclude individual entries — it's never one opaque lump-sum line.
Deleting an invoice
Deleting a draft or sent invoice releases its reserved time entries back to uninvoiced, so they're available to bill again on a future invoice.
