Dashboard

Your at-a-glance view of the business, and how it differs by role.

The Dashboard is the page you land on after signing in. What it shows depends on your role — it's built around what each role is actually allowed to see, not just a cut-down version of the same view.

Owner and Admin: the full dashboard

Owner and Admin see the complete picture: six KPI tiles (see Tiles and how they're calculated), three charts, and three side panels — Quick access, Recently added, and Recent activity.

If you have no clients, projects, invoices, or recent time entries at all, the whole dashboard is replaced with a simple "nothing here yet" prompt — there's no point showing six empty tiles and three empty charts.

Pending approvals banner

Owner and Admin also see a banner counting time entries awaiting review, linking straight to the approvals worklist. It only appears if timesheet approvals are turned on for your organisation — which needs both the Pro plan (or above) and the setting itself switched on. See Timesheet approvals. If approvals aren't enabled, the banner simply doesn't appear.

Billing role: invoices only

The Billing role sees three tiles — Total paid, Outstanding, and Draft — calculated the same way as the full dashboard, but scoped to whichever clients or projects you've been given access to. There are no charts, no Unbilled or Active projects tiles, and no Projected FY revenue tile. The recent-activity panel lists your last 8 invoices only (no time entries or payments), alongside a list of your assigned projects.

Member role: your own time only

Members never see money figures on the Dashboard — cost rates and financial totals are Owner/Admin/Billing-only throughout Springtrack. Instead you get:

  • Your hours this week — your own tracked hours for the current week (using your personal timezone if you've set one, otherwise the organisation's).
  • Your projects — how many projects you're assigned to.

Recent activity shows the last 8 completed time entries you can see under your project access (your own entries, plus teammates' entries on shared projects) — never invoices or payments.

If you haven't been added to any project yet, you'll see a prompt to that effect instead of empty tiles.

Quick access

Four shortcuts, always the same regardless of what else is on the page: start a timer, create an invoice, add a client, and create a project.

Recently added

The five most recently created clients, projects, and invoices, merged into one list, newest first. This is "what's new in the org," not a personal browsing history — it doesn't track what you've looked at.

Recent activity

A merged, newest-first feed capped at 8 items. On the full dashboard it draws from the last 6 completed time entries (anyone in the org), the last 6 invoices, and the last 8 non-write-off payments. Each row links straight to the record it's about.

Jumping to detail

Every tile and chart is a link. For example, Outstanding takes you to Invoices pre-filtered to overdue; Unbilled takes you to the uninvoiced time report. There's no separate navigation menu on the Dashboard itself — the tiles double as your shortcuts into the rest of the app.

The Dashboard doesn't have a date-range picker either: every tile and chart uses a fixed window (mostly "this financial year" or a fixed trailing period) rather than something you can page through. For a report you can filter, re-range, and export, see Reports.
