Time Tracking & Timers

Logging time retroactively

Entering time you didn't track live, and how backdating works.

Use Add time entry to log time after the fact — useful when you forgot to start a timer, or you're catching up at the end of the day.

What the form needs

  • Date — always visible on the form, so you can see exactly which day you're writing to. There's a date picker for jumping to any day, not just "yesterday" one click at a time.
  • Project (and work item, if applicable) and billing task category — required; leaving one out shows an inline error rather than silently failing to save.
  • Duration — either a start/end time (Springtrack computes the duration, correctly across daylight saving changes) or a plain duration.
  • Billable — defaults from the project, but you can override it per entry. Selecting a non-billing project turns this off automatically, with an explanation.

Future-dated entries

Springtrack rejects or warns on time logged for a date in the future — there's an upper bound on how far ahead you can log.

Logging on someone else's behalf

Admins can log time "as" another team member — useful for catching up someone's timesheet. This is an explicit action on the form, not a side effect of switching your own profile context, so it can't be triggered by accident.
